HRDC has purchased and completely renovated the old Frontier Pies building on North 7th and they are serving meals there every evening. They call it The Community Cafe and it is Montana's only “Pay What You Can Cafe” . The Community Cafe is open to everyone 6 days a week, all year long. It is open every evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Food is prepared at the Cafe. Volunteers greet guests, seat them, serve them and help clean up afterwards.
It is temporarily closed on Saturdays, but a soup is available at Noon in the parking lot of WalMart.
A coffee hut called Higher Ground is onsite and it is estimated that the proceeds from every third cup of java go to support this valuable program.
St. James is responsible for serving the 3rd Friday of every month. We need 9-10 volunteers.
Volunteers are asked to be there by 4:30pm and expect to stay until 7:30 for clean-up. We are to park on Beall Street, wear close toed shoes, bring a hat if serving food. Aprons are optional. There will be some available. Duties include: Hostess (1), Hydrater (1), Busser (1), Server (2-3), Plater (2), Dishwasher (2).
